Writing is a tough profession. It’s especially tough for us Indie authors who love what we do (yes, I’m in the club); who are dedicated, skilled, and fervent in our passion for creative writing. And it’s most certainly tough for those of us who have been knocking for years at that monolithic, steel-reinforced door of The Big Five publishing moguls, never giving up hope that one of these happy days, the GO AWAY sign will be replaced with a WELCOME, MY FRIEND!
I’m still knocking at that metaphorical door, but at least there has been a giant leap in the right direction. Maybe not for mankind, but certainly for me. Which is this. My novel Infinite Stranger has been selected by BookBub – a global readership platform – for one of their highly competitive Featured Deals on Saturday, November 9th. That’s tomorrow for some parts of the globe! (Can you see the big smile on my face right now?) As part of this promotional package, my book will be on special offer at 99p in the UK, Canada and Australia until November 16th.
For those of you who might not have heard of BookBub, here’s what Wikipedia says about them:
“BookBub is a book discovery service that was created to help readers find new books and authors. The company features free and discounted e-books selected by its editorial team, as well as book recommendations, updates from authors, and articles about books.”
So, when their editorial team informed me several days ago that Infinite Stranger had been selected for their Featured Deal on November 9th, it was like having liquid gold poured over my soul! (Actually, should that be followed by an ouch!?)
So yes, writing is a tough profession; but hardest of all is what happens after you’ve finished writing your book. Then comes the real test of bravery and endurance. The real hard slog of marketing, promoting, advertising, and at the same time trying not to put people off by getting in their face. (Oh, God, not HER again!) That’s why it’s worth celebrating when a mega platform such as BookBub takes a hand in promoting a book they believe in. Tomorrow, it happens to be MY book. 🙂
Definitely worth popping open the champagne tonight!

Congratulations! 😊
