My elixir of life is playing the piano and writing. I couldn’t live without either of those two dimensions! My two latest novels, 'Once Upon a Thousand Hills' and 'Infinite Stranger', are available on Amazon. I had an international upbringing in Cyprus and Vienna, and finished my higher education in England, qualifying as a Music and English teacher. I work in the field of international education, dividing my time between Krakow, Wroclaw, London and Liverpool. But I am mainly based in Krakow, my beloved fairytale city!

Africa, Jews and Sex

Okay … so what do Africa, Jews and sex have in common? Not a great deal, unless you happen to be part of Naomi’s world. Or John Paul’s. (More of them in a minute.) Or have some interest in the Land of a Thousand Hills – a tiny country right in the heart of Africa [...]

The hardest part of writing?

The hardest part of writing?

How in the world do writers come up with a title for their books? It’s hard enough thinking of one for a blog post, let alone an entire, full-length novel! How do we do it? How do you do it, fellow blogger? What’s in a name? as Shakespeare said. A rose by any other name [...]

Value Your Privacy? Stay Away From Writers!

As a writer, I’m someone you’d be well advised to avoid at all cost. Someone you’d be even better advised never to date. And someone you’d be absolutely CRAZY to marry. (You can’t anyway, unless you’re into bigamy.) Okay, but first things first. Here are some objective reasons why you should think twice before getting [...]

The Trouble with Dogs and Men

A couple of days ago my twelve-week-old puppy, Bruno, had a bit of a trauma. Well, a lot of a trauma. It happened at the vet’s, where I took him for what was supposed to be a normal, innocuous doggy jab. But within half a minute of receiving it, the poor little thing went all [...]

What a Difference a Puppy Makes!

I’d like to introduce you to Bruno, my new, naughty, adorable, three-month-old puppy. The poor little mite was found on the streets of Krakow shortly after Christmas and taken to the Dog Rescue Shelter, where I duly rescued him. And now, thanks to the exhausting but oh so rewarding addition to our depleted household (following [...]

A Nightmare on Copernicus Street

A Nightmare on Copernicus Street

The title for my latest blog post is borrowed from the 1980s horror film, A Nightmare on Elm Street, which some of you might remember. So why that particular horror film? Easy. Because yesterday’s experience truly was a nightmare, though not involving blood, guts and gore. It just involved the gory state my soul was [...]

All I Want for Christmas …

All I want for Christmas is you … and you and you and you … But who, exactly, are you? We all have our different you’s who we long to be with, and who we miss if they’re not with us. In most cases, ‘you’ is our family, including the four-legged members. In my case, the [...]
